Kate Dorrough Selected for Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award
Land & Shadows, 2014, stoneware ceramic with glaze, 40 x 36 x 22 cm
Kate Dorrough has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award. Now in its 29th year, the biennial $10,000 award attracts a diverse range of contemporary ceramic artists from around the world. This year’s entries were judged by guest judge Dr Patsy Hely.
Dorrough’s ceramic work, titled Land & Shadows, captures the endurance and fortitude of the Australian landscape. It explores the cyclical nature of renewal and destruction, aridity and abundance, which is inextricably linked to the life force that is the river system.
The Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award exhibition runs from the 6 September to 26 October at the Gold Coast City Gallery
