OPENING OF MITCHELL BUILDING, STATE LIBRARY OF NSW

The historic Mitchell Building has undergone a remarkable transformation. Heritage areas never-before open to the public have been re-imagined with beautiful new galleries, open to the public from Saturday 6 October. More than 300 paintings from the Library’s collection including Robyn Sweaney’s painting Neighbourhood Watch, that the library purchased in 2009, will now be on permanent display. The selected landscapes and portraits date from the 1790s to today. They include extraordinary and every day scenes, rare and recent views of Sydney and the harbour, suburban streetscapes and burgeoning rural townscapes. More here!
