Kate Dorrough in NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize

We are delighted to announce that Arthouse artist Kate Dorrough has been nominated as a finalist for her exquisite painting ‘Denbigh, inside and outside the home gate’ in the annual NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize!

Established in 2008, the Plein Air Prize is an annual event held by the NSW Parliament that offers an acquisitive art prize of $20,000 for the best ‘plein air’ painting of a NSW subject. The term ‘en plain air’ is a French expression which refers to the act of painting ‘in the open air’ as a means to a direct engagement with nature.

Dorrough produced the beautiful work ‘en plein air’ on a friends property near Cobbity, NSW earlier this year. Be sure to see it on display at the Fountain Court in the NSW Parliament from June 17 to 31 July.

Denbigh, inside and outside the home gate, acrylic on canvas, 40.5 x 82.5 cm
