Tamworth Regional Gallery have acquired Kate Dorrough's captivating textile work 'Recollections' for their permanent collection.
Exhibited in 2024, as part of Dorrough's major retrospective with her mother Kate Dorrough, the work toured regional galleries of New South Wales hanging alongside her mother's artwork 'Self Portraits' from 1988. This exhibition 'Lineage', captured the imagination of hundreds of art admirers across NSW and was accompanied by a monograph detailing the work of both artists.
'Recollections' is a four panelled work delicately dyed in visceral shades of blue, deep warm greys and blacks with Dorrough's signature iconography depicted throughout.
Established in 1919, Tamworth Regional Gallery is one of the oldest regional galleries in New South Wales and offers a distinctive connection to place and a curatorial agenda that creates meaningful art experiences for all.
