Kate Dorrough selected as a finalist in The Pymble Values Art Prize

Pymble Ladies College

Kate Dorrough has been selected as a finalist in The Pymble Values Art Prize for 2025.

An annual acquisitive painting prize which celebrates diversity and respect of others, the works chosen reflect the values of the school and inspire meaningful conversations to promote change. Open only to women artists, Dorrough joins a group of acclaimed artists who will present their work in an exhibition in November.

Of her work River Alchemy, Kate states — Respect for the rivers of our country, which meander a long worn path across our land, link and provide fertility, sustenance and respite. The layering of mark making, a textural palimpsest plays homage echoing layered stories and histories of the river. Inferred calligraphic marks suggest a text or language to be deciphered and understood, acknowledging a growing respect given to the rights of the river and water systems and their crucial ecological role. The river, embedded in our consciousness becomes an abstracted emblematic icon.

The exhibition of finalists from 12 - 14 November 2025 at Pymble Ladies College.
