Nicole Kelly has been announced as a finalist in the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award, a highly acclaimed national art prize that aims to celebrate significant works on paper as well as elevating the medium and supporting Australian artists.
A diverse range of artists have been selected working in drawing, printmaking, collage, photography, sculpture, paper cut outs and video.
Nicole has been selected for her work 'Notes from the Desert'.
The series of monotypes made in the field responds to a recent residency to the arid zone of remote Fowlers Gap Research station in NSW, 110km North West of Broken Hill. The process of the monotype allows familiar representations of the landscape to disperse within a field of colour, mark and line. - Nicole Kelly
Finalists will be exhibited in the Main Gallery at Hazelhurst Arts Centre from 16 September to 12 November 2023.
