Jo Bertini selected for the acclaimed Salon des Refusés

S.H. Ervin Gallery

We are delighted to share that Jo Bertini has been selected for the Salon des Refusés 2024 for her incredible work ‘Singing Up Country – each phrase the size of a red stone – Turraburra.’ (Iningai Country, QLD)’.

Jo recently ventured into the Queensland desert with a scientific team from the University of Queensland for a very special project to document the incredibly fragile desert Upland country, Turraburra, that is being restored & rehabilitated by the traditional Iningai owners led by Suzanne Thompson. This stunning painting depicts that rich and important landscape.

The Salon des Refusés was initiated by the S.H. Ervin Gallery in 1992 in response to the large number of works entered into the Archibald and Wynne Prize which were not selected for display in the official exhibition. S.H. Ervin Gallery’s ‘alternative’ selection has become a much anticipated feature of the Sydney scene.

The exhibition will be on display at S.H. Ervin Gallery from 8 June – 25 August 2024. Not to be missed!
