This is a contemporary depiction of Anne Boleyn who is mainly known as the second wife of Henry VIII and for being beheaded so he was free to remarry. What she is less known for is her strong intellect and the radical thinking she developed, during her education at the French court, against the power of the Vatican. Her ability to effectively communicate and the stylish presence she projected on her return to the English court turned the head of Henry. For seven years she dissuaded his advances, all the while disseminating her views to him, until the English Reformation created the Church of England, and she agreed to become Queen.
